The Challenge

This was a very flat site with a stream running through the middle of the site with high ground water table across the entire site. The challenge here was how to drain stormwater from the new very flat roads for the subdivision as well as keep the road subgrade above the high ground water table and balance earthworks cut fill at the same time and be able to service the flat site. Also to comply with minimum gradients for stormwater and wastewater.

With all servicing design requiring to consider upstream catchments for future stages, which would then flow down, traversing through the initial stages, careful and accurate analysis was needed, with the client requiring confirmation on the viability of the project quickly.

Technology in Action:

The flat terrain required vertical see-sawing of all the roads to incorporate low points for road catchpits while keeping the road subgrade above ground water levels. With a complex network of stormwater, wastewater and water supply, our Servicing AI software was able to carry out billions of iterations within hours to produce a 3d servicing design that met standards for minimum gradient as well as taking into consideration of upstream future stage catchments confirming viability.
