Prior to lockdown, Civix attended the opening of Onepoto School in Northcote. It was a privilege to be invited to the official opening by Jacinda Arden, and to see the project come to life. Civix Planners worked alongside the Ministry of Education to prepare the Resource Consent and Outline Plan of works, and to manage these applications through to approval.

The school site was completely redeveloped to make way for a modern, fun and innovative building designed by MINISTRY, with the students collaborating on design ideas – including the slide from the upper floor!

There were a number of consenting challenges raised by the transformation of the surrounding area, with other projects in various stages of consenting and construction. It was important to ensure the school tied into other planned features, such as the adjacent Awataha Greenway Project, which is a reclaimed and revegetated stream with a public boardwalk that links through the wider area.

We are excited to see Onepoto School flourish in their new home, and continue to be an important part of the growing Northcote Community.
